The Longing of Our God
How would you feel if the one you loved ignored you? Never called home? Never sent you an email or text? How would you feel if the one you love most treated you exactly the way you treat God? If you love God, be willing to show him. He longs for You.
Remember when you first feel in love, how you longed for your sweetheart to call or text you? How even a day apart seemed unbearable? Thinking about it! That is the way God feels for you. He Longs for You. Do you long for comfort, healing, or romance? Again, if you do not long for God, who or what do you long for? Ponder that questions and medicate on what it says about your heart. Take time now to come before God in a spirit of confession and repentance. Ask him to give you a heart that long for Him.
God longs to fellowship with you. The major drawback to that fellowship is that we are not willing.
We desire for him to answer our prayers and burden we are not longing to spend time in fellowship
with Him. God’s blessing is upon those who delight in his word and meditate upon it day and night.
Psalms 119:9 tells us:
How can a young (woman) keep (her) way pure?
By according to your word.
I seek you with all my heart; do not let me stray from your commands.
I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.
I meditate on your precepts and consider your ways.
I delight in your decrees; I will not neglect your word.
In order to be a usable vessel, you must not only get into God’s Word, it must get into you. How can God direct you to those who need to know him or those you need his comfort? Before we can meditate on God’s Word, we must first hide it in our hearts. Memorizing scripture helps us to keep our thoughts pure. Instead of putting all the other junk in our minds, I would prefer to fill it with God’s word. I have found by reading a verse that I find that will minister to me, I will work on memorizing so that I can quote it correctly when time comes if I am teaching or speaking to a group of ladies. Sometimes it’s a life coaching moment that a scripture comes to mind. Repeat it often and it will come second nature to you.
It’s not enough to get into God’s Word; you need to allow God’s Word to get into you. How? By an ongoing scripture memorization system is one of the best ways to ensure you are equipped to go wherever and whenever God directs.
